The leaves are turning colours, the days are getting shorter and there is a crisp in the air. After a beautiful summer I am ready for fall. My family and I have some great fall traditions that I want to share with you.

Apple Picking

Yes it is getting a bit late in the season for apples, but my family loves to go apple picking. We love the whole experience of picking the apples, eating them, baking them and more. I love giving the kids a chance to see their food coming from the trees and show them how they grow.

Some of our favourite places in the Guelph area to pick apples are:

It is costly but it is lots of fun. They have a petting farm where the kids can get right in the pen and pet and see the animals. They have very large slides (adults can go on too), hay maze, balloons, swings and ponies rides on the weekends. You get a wagon ride out to pick the apples and there is a bbq where you can buy lunch too.

Pre-warning: it gets very busy so be prepared for line ups.

This family farm may not be huge but still has lots to offer. There is a playland for kids, a petting zoo, slides, swings and a sandbox. On the weekends they offer hay- rides and a puppet show. It is a much more affordable option and not as busy.

For your price of admission you get free wagon rides, haunted forest, straw mountain jump and cornfield walk, plus there are pony rides on the weekend for an extra cost. Andrew Scenic acres is down the street from Chudleighs and is a more affordable option with less of a crowd.

Another great place my family loves to visit in the fall is

They have wagon rides, farm animals, straw mountain, corn mazes, pumpkin picking and in the fall season they have a fun Boo barn the kids love to visit. On the weekends you can also catch the professional puppet show. Plus if you are hungry you can buy some treats in the bakery or

grab some lunch.

Our last fall tradition (other than turkey of course) is we always take a nice fall walk.

This is great if you are ready for a hike, if you have a toddler it can be a pain. No cost and beautiful nature is all around.

If you are looking for a more of an activity the Halton conservation host a two weekend event called fall in Nature.

You pay the price of admission at the gate and you can visit any 7 of their parks in one day. Each park has a variety of activities that they offer. Crafts, wagon rides, bbqs, caves, chair lift are just a few of the amazing activites.

Some of our favourite parks Hilton falls with the beautiful water falls and Kelso walking up the ski hill or you can take a ride of that is too much.

Anyway you choose to embrace the season of fall is great as long as it is with your family!
