Share the Love
As you may have seen on our Facebook page, this month our theme is “Share the Love.” Of course we were thinking of Valentine’s Day, but we wanted to focus on something a little more broad so the little ones could participate too!

I am a very sentimental person, but I have never been a big Valentine’s Day person. Well, maybe not in the typical sense. I get it – it’s a day to make you and your partner a priority. But growing up my family and I always celebrated as a family, perhaps because in Colombia (where we are from) it’s known as “The Day of Love and Friendship,” so of course I wanted to continue that tradition with my little one.
Last year my husband and I celebrated our first Valentine’s Day as parents. We didn’t do anything overly special – just spent some quality time together with our son, but I am definitely excited to continue that tradition over the next few years. I want to do something similar to what my parents taught me – it was a month to really focus on spreading the love to everyone, family and friends alike. Maybe do something special for someone, say a kind word, or just be a good friend to someone who needs it!
Becoming a mom has changed me so much. The love I have felt for my son is stronger than anything I ever imagined. I feel like I see the world in a whole different way now. I love seeing my family in such a different light – my husband as “dada,” my parents as grandparents – Logan brings so much joy to our lives and around this time I feel extra lovey towards my whole family – especially Logan. This year I’m excited for a little family outing and some cute Pinterest-inspired cards we will be making for family members!
So now that I got all that emotional stuff out of the way let’s turn to YOU! How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Do you try to make time for just you and your partner? For some couples it’s nice to have a little reminder to take some time away from the “littles” and do something for your relationship. Or do you like to involve your kids in a fun family celebration?
